We are a dental practice devoted to restoring and enhancing the natural beauty of your smile using conservative, state-of-the-art procedures that will result in beautiful, long lasting smiles!

High Standards

A standard of excellence in personalized dental care enables us to provide the quality dental services our patients deserve.  We provide comprehensive treatment planning and use restorative and cosmetic dentistry to achieve your optimal dental health.  Should a dental emergency occur, we make every effort to see and care for you as soon as possible.

Education & Prevention

As a practice, we are true believers that preventative care and education are the keys to optimal dental health.  We strive to provide "dental health care" vs. "disease care".  That's why we focus on thorough exams - checking the overall health of your teeth and gums, performing oral cancer exams, and taking x-rays when necessary.  We also know that routine cleanings, flossing, sealants, and fluoride are all helpful in preventing dental disease.  Not only are we focused on the beauty of your smile, we're also concerned about your health.  A review of your medical history can help us stay informed of your overall health, any new medications, and any illnesses that may impact your dental health.

Uncompromising Safety

Infection control in our office is also very important to us.  To protect our patients and ourselves, we strictly maintain sterilization and cross contamination processes using standards recommended by the American Dental Association (ADA), the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), and the Center for Disease Control (CDC).

Training & Expertise

As your dental health professionals, we want you to be confident knowing that we are a team of highly trained and skilled clinicians.  We pride ourselves in providing the care you need to keep your smile healthy.  To give you the best possible service and results, we are committed to continual education and learning.  We attend dental lectures, meetings, and dental conventions to stay informed of new techniques, the latest products, and the newest equipment that a modern dental office can utilize to provide state-of-the-art dental care.  Also, being members of various professional dental associations helps us to stay abreast of the changes and recommendations for our profession.

A Positive Experience

Building a foundation of trust by treating our patients as special individuals is vital to our success.  We understand how uneasy some patients may feel about their dental visits, and how we can make a difference in providing a relaxing and positive experience.  Our entire team is dedicated to providing you with excellent, personalized care and service to make your visits as comfortable and pleasant as possible.

We thank you for allowing us to take care of your dental needs and look forward to serving you.

Make an appointment today .....we'll give you a reason to smile!

Our Technology

Bose Quiet Comfort

When people are fearful or say, "I don't like the dentist", normally it boils down to two things: either they don't like needles or they don't like the sounds. Unfortunately, there is no alternative to getting numb, but we have done everything to reduce the noise. First, we offer the Bose QuietComfort® 3 Acoustic Noise Cancelling® headphones. These were originally developed for frequent flyers to block out engine noise, but we have discovered that they block out a lot of the dental office chatter as well. We can hook these up to the television or DVD, which we have in every treatment room, or you can bring in an iPod or Walkman to listen to your favorite music.

The second way way try to block the sounds is not to make them at all. We use Kavo ultra-quiet electric handpieces. These do not make near the sound that traditional air-driven handpieces do. Besides, there constant torque control makes Dr. Bernath's job quicker and easier. The electric unit is also capable of cleaning out canals during root canal treatments, which is a huge advancement over using manual (finger driven) files.

I stated that there is no alternative to getting numb, which is true, however there are ways we can make you more comfortable if this is your fear. I would like to direct you to the 'Sedation Dentistry' page if this is the case. We can help you through this fear with either Nitrous Oxide or Sedation. What I would like to point out here, is that while sedated, we will be monitoring all vital signs with Criticare 506NP3 Pulse Oximeter. We monitor three critical parameters; (oxygen concentration, blood pressure, and heart rate) with a single monitor. Through the ComfortCuff(TM) NIBP technology, this is the only vital signs monitor that will measure blood pressure on inflation compared to deflation. This means less constricting and pressure on your arm, resulting in a more comfortable experience for you and less distractions for our team. Metal quick disconnects allow a durable option to allow us to take x-rays or you a bathroom break. What this means to you is that while sedated, you can know that it will be a safe, comfortable experience and that we will be taking the best care for you possible. By the way, with conscious sedation, there is a reversal drug, which means that if you are showing signs of being 'too' sedated, we can reverse the process within 30 seconds. For more information about the safety of sedation, please contact our office and Dr. Bernath will happy to discuss the process with you.

The fact of the matter is, dental materials have taken leaps and bounds in the last decade. No longer are amalgam (silver) fillings acceptable to be put in your mouth. This material served us well for over a hundred years, but today it is considered substandard. The only drawback to our new materials is that they are extremely technique sensitive. The biggest reason our new materials fail is that saliva gets on the tooth or material as it is being placed. Since the average person produces 1.0 to 1.5 liters of saliva each day, this can be a fairly sizable barrier. To ensure that no saliva gets on the tooth, there are two choices: a rubber dam or Isolite. If you have never had the privilege of wearing a rubber dam, they are not the most comfortable creations man has invented, but... they work. That being said, our office has chosen to invest in Isolite.

isolite

There are four primary benefits of the Isolite System:

  • 1. Increased visibility. By lighting the patient's oral cavity from within the mouth, Isolite provides a unique, shadowless illumination that benefits both practitioner and patient.
  • 2. Quick, reliable isolation. Isolite is the only dental device that delivers continuous retraction, protection and aspiration. This device protects not only you, but us as well by creating a barrier between your teeth and the rest of your mouth.
  • 3. Faster procedures. Dentists, dental assistants and hygienists using Isolite are reducing procedure times by 20-50%.
  • 4. Fatigue. The Isolite system has a built in bite block, that gives you something to rest your teeth on, so you don't have to hold your mouth open for an extended period of time. This significantly reduces muscle and joint fatigue, helping you feel better faster.

Navigator

There have been so many advancements in lasers and so many uses discovered in all medical settings, I could not imagine practicing without one. In dentistry, the laser has replaced most surgical procedures as well as everyday uses such as cord packing. The laser can be used in numerous cosmetic procedures, problems with muscle attachment, make extractions easier, can treat tooth sensitivity, and is used in many periodontal (gum disease) situations to ease and promote faster healing. The laser is much less invasive than the scalpel, and heals much faster with much less post operative pain. The laser can even be used on cold sores and canker sores to not only reduce the pain and time of infection, but also to prevent future out breaks. Lasers are the present and the future. I can only imagine where they will be ten years from now, but even today their impact is unmeasurable. For more information on our laser and laser dentistry, please visit the 'Laser Dentistry' page.

Cannon Camera

The Cannon 40D is not really for your comfort, but your satisfaction. When is the last time your dentist performed trestment on your tooth and the lab technician was there? I understand, it has never happened to me either. That's because it is not reasonable. To circumvent this barrier to delivering great, aesthtic dental work, we have invested in the Cannon 40D camera. We take multiple pictures with shade guides, that we email to Stanka at Sunrise Dental Laboratory so that she has all the information she needs to accurately match the color and shape of your natural tooth. This allows us to restore the tooth back to its natural form and function as well as anyone can, and I know that you will be happy with the results.

ClearVu

Our office is completely digital, meaning everything we need to know is stored on our computer network. If you were wondering why there is not a downloadable health history form, it's because we don't have you fill one out. When you come in for your appointment, we will sit down with you and discuss any health concerns, and they go straight on the computer. Paper is so impersonable and doesn't tell us who you are, plus it saves time and trees.

The Dexis digital radiographs have many benefits to you including:

  • Reduced exposure to radiation- The radiation is 1/10 that of standard radiographs.
  • Less waiting time- The images appear on the screen instantly, so there is no waiting for them to be processed
  • Shorter appointments - Since we're not waiting for them to be developed, this results in shorter appointments.
  • Involved in co-diagnosis- Instead of me looking at a tiny X-ray and telling you there is a cavity, I can actually show you what I see. You don't have to take my word for it, you can see for yourself.
  • Better understanding of treatment- Because I can show you, I am able to better help you comprehend what the problem is, how it came about, and what we can do to fix it. I feel it is my job to educate you, so you can make the decision of what is best for yourself.
  • Ease of transfer- If we need a second opinion or you happen to move, we can easily transfer the images by email or print them out for you to have.

New Acclaim Handpiece

Along with the digital radiographs, we also use the Acclaim intraoral camera. This also aids us in educating you to the exact condition of your teeth, visually. We hope to build a trusting relationship with you, but it helps if you can see it for yourself. We can also track how things are progressing through time, to see if the condition is worsening or not.

We are always updating, upgrading, and adding new equipment as it becomes available. We are dedicated to staying on the leading edge of dental advancements, whether equipment or materials, all to offer you the best dental care possible.

Meet Our Lab

We are very honored and proud to have been accepted by Sunrise Dental Laboratory (formerly MAC lab) to form a partnership of exceptional dentistry. Sunrise is the creator and exclusive producer of MAC veneers, the most aesthetic available. Founded in Las Vegas in 1971, Sunrise is known for its attention to detail with both all-ceramics as well as crown and bridge. Their team of LVI trained technicians perform at a level that is nothing short of spectacular. Never settling for mediocrity, they pride themselves in providing the best restorations available in our market.

Stanka, our superb lab technician at Sunrise, and Dr. Bernath have worked together on all sorts of cases from full mouth reconstructions, aesthetic inlays and crowns, to veneer cases. We call her the secret member of our team, because nobody ever has the privilege to meet her, yet she is every bit as important in delivering high quality, aesthetic dentistry as Dr. Bernath himself.
